Wynford wins at Market Rasen

What a weekend of sport it’s been, culminating with a superb win from Wynford yesterday.

We adopted the same racing tactics as his previous race, to keep him switched off at the back of the field and pass horses in the final 1/2 mile. This tactic worked perfectly well as it keeps Wynford focused and switched on. When he reached the front his “quirky nature” could be seen by all when he jinked and Nathan had to hang on (quite literally) till the line. Nathan was fine after the tumble and all the members who were there to share in the victory had a great afternoon in the winner’s enclosure.

The review from the racing post reads :

WYNFORD fourth to Black Lightning over C&D on his previous outing and second start for Rebecca Menzies, took a big step forward off this 3lb lower mark. Under a perfectly judged waiting ride, he was produced to lead on the run-in despite flashing his tail. There was a scare for his rider, who was almost unseated approaching the winning line, but the partnership managed to stay intact until a few strides past the post. All four of his hurdling wins have been achieved on good ground.
He had come through the race well today and we are now planning his next outing, which might not be too far aware.
