How often will the horse run?

It is not possible to guarantee how often the horse will run due to the nature of the sport. The racing days will be reviewed by our race manager and trainer to see what is appropriate for the horse at the time. As always the well being of the horse is our top priority and there will be periods of rest required.

What notice will I receive for the race day

Stoneleigh Racing will try and give as much notice as possible. As soon as the races have been selected by the Race Manager and Trainer we will let the members know.

What prize money do I receive?

The prize money will be shared among the members in line with our terms and conditions. It is normally issued at the end of your membership period.

What silks will the jockey wear?

Stoneleigh Racing silks are blue with a white and red checked hat and sleeves.

Will I be able to go to the races to see the horse run?

Yes but the number of owners badges for a race day is restricted so attendees will be decided by way of a ballot. If a racecourse has any other offers in excess of this details will be forwarded to members.

Can I bring a friend if I win an owners badge?

If you win an owners badge at the majority of meetings, you have the opportunity to buy additional badges providing you let us know beforehand. This is not always possible at the bigger racing festivals as the racecourses strictly limit certain enclosure badge numbers. We work very hard with the courses and owners to make as many badges available for owners and their guests.

Are there any dress codes for race days?

Smart dress is required but we suggest checking with the racecourses website for more information.

How do I receive my owners badge and where do we meet on racedays?

Should you win an owner's badge for a race day, you will be sent an email with the information on where to meet and how you will receive the badge.

Who are the trainers?

Our trainer is Rebecca Menzies who is based just outside of Sedgefield.

Can I visit the trainer’s stables to see the horse?

Stoneleigh Racing will organise club visits to see the horse on the gallops during the year. This will be at a time convenient to the trainer. You are not able to visit your horse independently.

Can I speak directly to the trainer/racecourse?

All communication with the trainer, racecourse, vet or any other party directly related to the running, progress or welfare of the horse will be conducted initially by Stoneleigh Racing managers. Information will then be passed to club members.

What happens if the horse is injured and unable to race?

Due to the nature of the sport, injuries do happen in training and during races. The decision on a refund or a replacement will depend on the extent and severity of the injury to the horse. If the horse is unable to race for a significant period of time Stoneleigh Racing will source a replacement horse as per our terms and conditions.
