Our latest horse - Songkran

Stoneleigh Racing have the pleasure of announcing their new horse - SONGKRAN.

Songkran is a stunning gelding from the Sire Slade Power, who at his peak reached a time form rating of 127 by winning both the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes and Group 1 July Cup. He has collected over £39,549 in prize money, winning on six occasions. He is a strong middle distance type of horse and has been with George since June 2020 where he has recaptured his love of racing as the results show.

George is one of racing's up and coming trainers and has a first class background in racing. After studying Agriculture and Business Management he went to work for two of the biggest names in Australian racing. In Sydney he worked for Gai Waterhouse and then on to Melbourne where he worked for Lloyd Williams.George returned from Australia to work for Hugo Palmer in Newmarket where he spent six years as assistant trainer, for two years of which he oversaw the running of Hugo’s 50 box satellite yard, Yellowstone Park Stables. He was granted a license to train in Newmarket on 1st July 2019 and since then has already amassed over 80 winners from just over 400 runners. Having enjoyed a first Listed success with Mystery Angel in the Pretty Polly Stakes in May this year, Boughey took his fledgling career to new heights with victory in the Prix Six Perfections in France. He is definitely going places and we would like to be part of his journey. We have managed to secure a 6 month lease agreement for Songkran (who's currently rated 86 and race fit) enabling him to run at courses such as Newmarket, York, Ascot, Doncaster, Chester, Goodwood etc.
