Wynford at Musselburgh
Yesterday was a solid run from Wynford at Musselburgh, he was ridden as he likes out the back and off the pace enabling him to pass horses as the race comes to a climax but unfortunately there was no pace so the finish became a sprint. He also didn't particularly like the ground being very much on the soft side. Both of these elements can be seen in the winning time of the race being 6mins 13.80seconds, slow by 33.80seconds! He did however battle on (as he does) and pass a number on the turn for home to secure a very respectable 3rd place. He is 50% qualified for the final. He now has to run one more qualifier to have an opportunity to run in the final.
The racing post analysis of his run was:
Wynford, who has won three times on the Flat since his previous spin over hurdles, was well supported and wasn't disgraced given he was set plenty to do in a race run at just an ordinary gallop. He'll be worth another chance in similar company.
The below picture is of Wynford back at the yard last night following his run.
As we have mentioned previously this was Wynford's last run of 2021 as he is going to go on his holidays now and have a little R&R before returning to the racecourse in February to undergo his preparation for the Musselburgh Final.
I think you will all agree that it has been an incredible season with Wynford winning 3 out of his 11 starts (27% win ratio) and placing in 8 out of his 11 starts (an incredible 72%). We shall be creating a 2021 review which will be sent in late December which will also include a statement of the winnings for the year.
