Maid puts in a great effort at Haydock
Well yesterday was a good lesson for Maid and it illustrated she wasn’t out of place in class 4 races. She ran in her normal style late out of the stalls and held up towards the rear. Entering the home straight she began to make her move but whilst she got to the front she was chased down in what effectively became a sprint and as they finished in a lump was placed 5th, 1 1/2 lengths covering the first five places. Not only was the race slow but the 4 horses that finished in front of Maid were all 3yo’s and as such had a 9lb allowance. In what was a free race it has provided good information for the finals on October 2nd, one could also say it was possibly her best race of the season even though she didn’t win.
